ODOT seeks comments on State Route 9 slope repair project in Harrison County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, November 5, 2012) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing to repair a slope failure along the north side of State Route 9 (Jewett-Scio Road) near the intersection of Vale Road, just west of the village of Jewett in Rumley Township, Harrison County.
The project will construct a 1,225-feet long retaining wall along the roadway to stabilize the embankment within the existing right of way. The project also includes new guardrail, repaving, replacement of a drainage culvert, and other minor drainage improvements.
Construction is expected to begin next summer. Traffic will be maintained during construction, utilizing part-width construction techniques. Minor new right of way will be required.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts could include those involving archaeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general location of the project.
