State Route 524 to be closed to traffic next week between Mechanicstown and Bergholz
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, November 8, 2010) – State Route 524 will be closed to traffic next Monday, November 15th, between Mechanicstown and Bergholz in Jefferson County, while crews drive piling to repair a landslide.
The roadway has been reduced to one lane since March. Officials expect this work to take one week to complete.
Beginning at the intersection of SR 39 and SR 524, traffic will be detoured east on SR 39 to SR 164 in Salineville, then south on SR 164 back to SR 524, and reverse.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
