State Route 152 Traffic on Empire Hill to be Stopped Later This Week During Daytime Hours for Drainage Work
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- State Route 152 traffic will be stopped periodically during daytime hours on Empire Hill in Jefferson County tomorrow, November 10th through Friday, November 13th, for drainage work.
Work is nearing completion on this landslide repair project that began in late 2007 and was further damaged by heavy rains in 2008.
ODOT's contractor, Dennison Bridge, Inc., from Dennison, Ohio, will be stopping traffic to install drainage across the highway this week. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers, but motorists are urged to use an alternate route to avoid possible delays.
Officials are hopeful that all work will be completed by January 2010. The total cost of the project is approximately $4 million.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
