ODOT seeks comments on State Route 39 roadway improvements west of Sherrodsville
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, November 9, 2011) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 39 in Tuscarawas County just west of the Carroll County line and approximately two miles west of Sherrodsville.
The project will reconstruct the downhill slope north of SR 39. Benching and geogrid material will be utilized to stabilize the embankment. The project will also stabilize 471-feet of an unnamed tributary to Conotton Creek by placing rock channel protection along its southern bank. Two culverts carrying ditches under SR 39 will also be replaced during construction. Minor new right of way will be required to complete the project.
Construction is anticipated for the fall of 2013. Through traffic will be maintained during construction, utilizing part-width techniques.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts could include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas E. Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by December 9, 2011.
