ODOT Seeks Comments on State Route 179 Bridge Replacement in Holmes County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 179 by replacing an existing bridge located over an unnamed tributary of the Mohican River approximately four miles north of State Route 39 in Holmes County.
The proposed project will completely replace the existing concrete and stone structure with a precast concrete structure. Additionally, guardrail will be replaced, and rock channel protection will be installed.
The road will be closed during construction, and a detour will be provided. Construction is anticipated for next summer. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by December 10, 2008.
