State Route 7 Northbound to be Restricted Next Week in Martins Ferry for Filming of "Unstoppable"
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --State Route 7 northbound will be restricted during daylight hours, beginning Monday, November 16th, between Aetna and Hanover Streets in the city of Martins Ferry, Belmont County, for filming of the major motion picture "Unstoppable."
SR 7 northbound traffic will be stopped in 15 minute increments to allow for filming. Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic control. SR 7 southbound will not be affected.
However, SR 7 northbound is likely to experience continuous traffic disruptions throughout the daytime hours. Motorists are urged to use an alternate route to avoid delays during these times.
According to James Mahathey, the movie's location manager for 20th Century Fox, filming in the Martins Ferry area should be completed by Friday, November 20th.
"Unstoppable" stars Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, who are trying to stop a runaway train filled with toxic chemicals that is on a collision course with a town. Scenes will be filmed from the northbound lanes of SR 7 and along First Street and the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad in Martins Ferry.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
