West High Avenue to Reopen Thursday
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, November 18, 2014) – West High Avenue (State Route 39) is scheduled to reopen at noon Thursday, November 20th, in the city of New Philadelphia.
It has been closed between 7th and 10th Streets since mid-September for a $2.37 million safety improvement project that included widening to provide a two-way, left-turn lane. Work also included new curb and gutters, ADA curb ramps, sidewalks, storm drainage, and new waterlines.
All major work impacting traffic was completed during this road closure, eliminating the need to restrict traffic again next spring. Only surface paving, sidewalks, and residential driveway approaches remains next year.
ODOT’s contractor is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio.
