ODOT Seeks Comments on Removal of Bridges on U.S. Route 22 in Harrison County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to U.S. Route 22 by replacing three bridges with earth fill over an abandoned railroad just west of State Route 9 at Cadiz in Harrison County.
The project will also construct new pavement in place of the structures and approach slabs as well as guardrail.
Traffic will be maintained on U.S. 22 eastbound and westbound. The westbound on-ramp to U.S. 22 will be closed during construction, and a detour will be provided. Construction is anticipated for next summer. No new right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by December 22, 2008.
