New Traffic Pattern on State Route 149 in Bellaire
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- There is a new traffic pattern on State Route 149 in Belliare, Belmont County this evening.
SR 149 traffic has been moved onto the new roadway just outside of the village corporation limits. Therefore, old SR 149 is now closed to traffic outside the corporation; however, access is being maintained for residents on Grape Alley, 4th Avenue, and 6th Avenue. Additionally, the traffic signal remains in place to maintain one-way traffic through the construction area while the other side of the roadway is constructed.
Old SR 149 (Washington Street) inside the corporation limits remains open.
This is all part of the 1.4 mile relocation project that began in July 2008.
ODOT's contractor for this $6.6 million project is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, and the completion date is October 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
