Upcoming Interstate 70 traffic restrictions at St. Clairsville
Motorists urged to plan ahead to avoid delays
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, November 20, 2014) – Interstate 70 westbound traffic will be restricted Saturday, November 22nd, at State Route 9 (Exit 216) in Belmont County to remove concrete barrier as part of the $9.7 million bridge replacement project that began in March 2013. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.
Then on Monday, November 24th, the eastbound passing lane will be closed to move temporary barrier. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
On Tuesday, November 25th, traffic will be shifted on the westbound side to move traffic into a safer pattern for the winter. This will require multiple lane closures; however, eastbound traffic will not be affected.
Motorists are urged to use caution and alternate routes, if possible, to avoid delays.
ODOT’s contractor for this project, which included the rehabilitation of the I-70 bridge over SR 9 at St. Clairsville, lengthening the westbound I-70 on-ramp from SR 9, and replacing the bridge that carries I-70 over the National Road Bikeway and Chambers Run is Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio.
Due to weather delays, this project will not be completed this year. Some work will remain next spring, such as widening on SR 9, I-70 surface paving, and final pavement markings.
