Upcoming nightly lane restrictions on Interstate 70 at State Route 331 Interchange may slow traffic in coming weeks
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, November 21, 2016) – Weather permitting, Interstate 70 traffic may experience some slight delays over the next two weeks during the nighttime hours at the State Route 331 Interchange Improvement project in Belmont County.
Starting November 28th through December 5th, nightly lane closures on I-70 are expected from 9 PM to 7 AM while ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, removes the old SR 331 bridge.
Intermittent, 15 minute closures of both east and westbound lanes are expected during this work.
This $19.5 million, major interchange improvement project began in April and is intended to reduce congestion and improve safety.
- Widening of U.S. 40, SR 331 and Hammond Road
- A new connector between existing SR 331 and Hammond Road
- Improved roadway and interchange design
- SR 331 bridge replacement
- Twin bridge deck replacements on I-70 over U.S. 40
- Pedestrian facilities within the project limits
The completion date for the entire project is September 30, 2017.
