Preparation work to begin for intersection improvement project
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, November 21, 2016) – Preparation work is expected to begin next Monday, November 28th, for intersection improvements planned in the spring at State Route 9 (Kensington Rd.), State Route 171 (Waynesburg Rd.), and County Road 71 (Cobbler Rd.) north of Carrollton in Carroll County.
Tree and stump cutting must be completed by mid-December to allow for required utility relocations. Minimal traffic disruptions are anticipated with this work; however, during construction next year, traffic will be detoured in different phases.
ODOT’s contractor for this $1.13 million project is Central-Allied Enterprises Inc., from Canton, Ohio, and the completion date is September 30, 2017.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
