ODOT Seeks Comments on Improvements to State Route 179 in Holmes County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 179 by replacing three existing culverts at separate locations just north of State Route 39 northwest of Nashville in Holmes County. The existing culverts carry unnamed tributaries to Crab Run under SR 179.
The proposed project will completely replace the existing culverts with precast concrete box culverts. Additionally, the project will include minimal roadway approach work, replacement of the existing guardrail, and the placement of rock channel protection at the outlet of each culvert.
Traffic will be maintained during construction at all three locations. Construction is anticipated for next summer. New right of way will be required at two locations to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by December 26, 2008.
