ODOT Seeks Comments on Improvements to U.S. Route 40 in Belmont County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to U.S. Route 40 by rehabilitating the historic Blaine Hill Viaduct in Blaine, Ohio.
The proposed project will clean and repair various concrete parts of the structure and seal it with epoxy-urethane. The project will also repair the structure’s pedestrian stairway, place rock channel protection around the third pier of the viaduct for erosion protection, and resurface the roadway on the structure.
Traffic will be maintained during construction which is anticipated for the summer of 2010. No new right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
