Erie Road Under State Route 2 to Close Monday Until Late October
Vine Street and East 361st Street to close nights next week for bridge work.
Garfield Heights (Friday, September 17, 2010) – Beginning Monday, September 20, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will close Erie Road under State Route 2 until approximately late October 2010 as crews widen the State Route 2 bridge over Erie Road. Motorists will be detoured via Lakeshore Blvd., State Route 91, Stevens Blvd. and St. Clair Street.
Overnight each night Monday, September 20 and Tuesday, September 21, crews will close Vine Street under State Route 2 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews erect structural steel on the Vine Street bridges. Motorists will be detoured via Lakeland Blvd. to Vine Street.
Overnight each night Thursday, September 23 and Friday, September 24, crews will close East 361st Street under State Route 2 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as crews erect structural steel on the East 361st Street bridge. Motorists will be detoured via Lakeland Blvd. to Vine Street.
In other project news, the Lost Nation Road southbound entrance ramp to State Route 2 westbound is closed through late November 2010. The project has been re-prioritized in order to allow the ramp to reopen for a seven-month period between late November 2010 and late July/early August 2011.
This ramp, along with the northbound Lost Nation Road ramp to State Route 2 westbound will close again when all State Route 2 traffic is shifted onto the existing eastbound lanes next summer. St. Clair Street is open to westbound traffic only. Motorists now have the option of taking Erie Street to Vine Street or traveling north on Erie Street to connect with Lost Nation Road northbound and State Route 2 westbound.
Through late November, Lost Nation Road traffic will be maintained with one lane in each direction between Wood Road and Riverside Commons.
The State Route 91 entrance ramp to State Route 2 eastbound is closed until approximately September 26. Motorists are detoured via Vine Street. On State Route 91 at State Route 2, one lane in each direction is closed through the 2010 construction season.

Reeves Road remains closed at Lost Nation Rd. through the 2010 construction season. The detour is set utilizing Hurricane Drive.
Reconstruction of State Route 2 will continue. Occasional lane closures may be utilized during nonpeak times. The entire project rehabilitates State Route 2 and adds a lane between State Route 91 and Newell Creek/State Route 306 and is expected to be complete in October 2011.
