The bridges making up the George V. Voinovich Bridge are considered sisters. Here bridge #2 is beginning to look like the first bridge.
The following work will take place in the coming days around the Cleveland Innerbelt and the George V. Voinovich Bridge project:
Downtown Impacts: Motorists should expect lane closures during off-peak hours on Ontario Street/Orange Avenue and East 9th Street as crews work on sidewalks, lighting and overhead. On Monday, December 7 Ontario Street will close between East 9th Street and Carnegie Avenue for a bridge deck pour. Closures will not impact rush hour traffic. The outbound lanes will close first around 7 a.m. After the morning rush hour the inbound lanes will close. The outbound lanes will open around 3 p.m. and the inbound lanes will open shortly after. Please detour via East 9th Street.
- The NEW West 14th Street is expected to OPEN to two-way traffic between Abbey and Fairfield Avenues on or around Friday, December 4.
- On Saturday, December 5, organizers of the A Christmas Story Run will close the I-90 west exit ramp to Abbey Avenue from about 8:30-10:30 a.m. For full event info, including a map of the course, click here.
Flats Impacts: Canal Road will close under I-90 on Saturday, December 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is also scheduled to close on Saturday, December 12 during the same timeframe. Detours will be posted. In addition, West 3rd Street just north of Canal Road will remain closed thru mid-December. Detour as follows: Harrison Street, West 4th Street and Central Avenue.
