I-480/State Road Ramp Closure Postponed; Rescheduled for Overnight Sunday, May 31
Garfield Heights (May 29, 2009, 3:18 PM) The I-480/State Road ramp closure has been postponed for the second time due to inclement weather. The closure was originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 and then rescheduled for overnight Thursday, May 28 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
Crews have rescheduled the operation for overnight Sunday, May 31 into the morning of Monday, June 1, however operations will be postponed should inclement weather interfere. Overnight Sunday, crews will close the I-480 eastbound exit ramp to State Road in order to reconstruct a portion of the pavement. Motorists may detour via Ridge and Brookpark Roads. The ramp is expected to remain closed through approximately late June/early July.
Overnight May 31, crews will also close multiple lanes of State Road southbound at the I-480 interchange. One through lane and one turn lane to I-480 eastbound will be maintained.
Lane shifts and closures are also expected on northbound State Road; however impacts to traffic will be minimal.
Following the ramp closure noted above, crews will close the State Road ramp to I-480 eastbound. Details will be forthcoming.
All ramps are expected to reopen on or around July 25, 2009, weather permitting.
The entire project reconstructs pavement and makes repairs to three bridges over I-480. Crews have completed major work on the Broadview Road and Pearl Road bridges over I-480. The entire project is expected to be complete this November.
All dates and times are approximate and weather dependent.
