I-77 Northbound and Southbound to Close This Weekend
replacement project to shift traffic back to normal configuration
HEIGHTS (Tuesday, October 14, 2014)
Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m., crews on behalf of the Ohio Department of
Transportation (ODOT) will close I-77 southbound at I-490 through 6
a.m. Monday, October 20 as crews work to shift traffic back to its
normal configuration on the I-77 bridge deck north of I-480. All downtown motorists will be detoured via
I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound to I-480 eastbound to I-77. Drivers
accessing I-77 southbound between I-490 and Grant Avenue will be detoured via
SR 21 to SR 17 (Granger Road) westbound to I-480 eastbound to I-77.
Also Friday, October 17, crews will close
I-77 northbound between I-480 and the SR 21 entrance ramp from 8:30 p.m.
through 6 a.m. Monday, October 20. Motorists will be detoured via I-480
westbound to SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77. Motorists will be
able to access the SR 21 entrance ramp to I-77 northbound to enter the highway.
In addition, crews will close
the left two lanes on I-77 northbound between Fleet Avenue and Pershing Avenue at
9 p.m. Friday through 6 p.m. Saturday, October 18 in order to perform
bridge repair operations at Pershing Avenue.
Upon completion of this weekend’s
work, all traffic on I-77 north and southbound will return to the
pre-construction traffic pattern and the I-480 eastbound ramp to I-77
northbound will open.
project replaces the bridge deck and improves drainage on I-77 north and
southbound between I-480 and Grant Avenue.
Work began in March 2014 with the implementation of the “Contraflow”
traffic pattern on I-77 north and southbound between SR 21 and I-480. Traffic will be in its normal configuration
through winter and the contraflow traffic pattern will return in spring
2015. The entire project is scheduled to
be complete in June 2017.
