I-77 Lane Addition Project to Begin Monday, May 12
Brecksville, Broadview Heights and Independence
May 9, 2008, Garfield Heights, OH… Beginning Monday, May 12 crews will begin a $90 million project to add a driving lane on I-77 north and southbound between Oakes Road and Rockside Road in the cities of Brecksville, Broadview Heights and Independence.
Overnight Monday, May 12 and Tuesday May 13 crews will close the left lane of I-77 northbound between Wallings Road and Rockside Road in order to place portable barrier wall.
Work in 2008 will include drainage work in the center median and construction of a 1.3 mile long retaining wall which will serve as the center wall in that portion. Crews will also replace the outside shoulders along the length of the project to carry traffic, begin bridge substructure work and perform work on several ramps throughout the project limits.
Major roadway work is expected to begin on the northern portion of the project between Pleasant Valley Road and Rockside Road during the spring of 2009.
Existing lanes will be maintained during peak hours throughout the project.
The entire project is expected to be complete in July of 2011.
On average, about 108,000 vehicles travel this portion of I-77 each day.
All dates and times are approximate and weather dependent.
Project: Lane addition and full reconstruction of pavement by grading, draining, signing, lighting, planing and paving with asphalt concrete, constructing retaining walls and noise barriers and the rehabilitation of 13 structures within the projects limits.
Contractor: Kokosing Construction Company
Bid Amount: $90,369,078.19
Completion Date: July 2011
