Attention Commuters: ODOT is working to make improvements at the intersection of Carnegie and Ontario, near Progressive Field. ODOT has phased much of the work to take place between Indians Opening Day and the opening of the Horseshoe Casino. This reduces impacts to businesses, tourists and commuters alike. To learn more about the needed improvements, click here.
Beginning on April 6, crews will reduce lanes at the intersection of Carnegie and Ontario. It is likely that morning rush hour for those who enter downtown via Ontario, and both morning and evening rush hours for those who use Carnegie will be most impacted. Remember: Getting downtown is easy, just allow extra time to enter and exit and use alternate routes when you can – riding RTA and carpooling are also great options. The first phase of improvements should be complete by May 12.
Crews will return to the intersection to complete remaining segments in mid-July. We’ll keep you updated as all the changes happen – just log-on to our website at www.Innerbelt.org. Additional traffic impacts are below:
A utility relocation crew is occupying one lane of westbound Carnegie, between E 9th Street and Ontario. They will be working around the clock until Thursday, April 5 at 5 a.m.
On Monday, April 2, the roadway connecting E 22nd Street to E 14th Street near St. Vincent Charity Medical Center will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon.

Tuesday thru Friday, April 3-6, E 14th Street will be closed under I-90 each night, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists may use E 9th Street or E 22nd Street as an alternate route.**
Monday thru Friday, April 2-6, there may be intermittent closures of the E 9th Street ramp to I-77 south, daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.**
**Please Note: All work noted above will be modified as not to interfere with increased traffic due to Indians Opening Day on Thursday, April 5.
