Gateway Impacts

  • Nightly through Friday, June 17, crews will close the E 9th Street ramp to I-77 southbound, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., for asphalt paving. Traffic will be detoured south on E 9th Street to Orange Avenue to access I-77. Nightly lane closures on E 9th Street are also expected.
  • Beginning overnight Tuesday, June 21, the E 14th Street ramps to both I-77 and I-90 will close. These closures will remain in effect until the summer of 2012. Motorists may detour via E 14th Street to Orange Avenue where they may enter I-77 southbound and continue on to I-490 westbound and I-90 westbound.
  • I-90 westbound restrictions to two (2) lanes between E 14th Street and Ontario Street may be delayed until the eastbound restrictions are put in place after July 4. Motorists should still Opt for the Alternate! and use I-490 and I-77 to avoid downtown congestion.
  • Next weekend, E 9th Street will be closed under I-90 for demolition of the bridge above. E 9th Street will remain closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24 until 6 a.m. on Monday, June 27. Traffic will be detoured via Carnegie and Ontario.
  • Daily and nightly lane closures on Orange Avenue between E 9th and E 30th Streets will take place through approximately Monday, June 20 as crews work to widen the roadway.
  • I-90 lane closures will take place during off-peak hours.
  • Both daily and nightly lane closures on E 14th Street under I-90 continue through early summer.
  • Daily lane closures are expected on the E 14th Street exit ramp from I-90 as well as on the extension of Community College Avenue in the vicinity of St. Vincent Charity Hospital.

Regional Interstate Ramp Impacts

  • Beginning overnight Friday, June 17 and continuing through the weekend, crews will close multiple lanes of I-77 southbound between I-490 and Rockside Road in order to perform milling and paving operations. At approximately 11 p.m. Friday, crews will close I-77 southbound at I-490 until 12 noon on Saturday, June 18. Motorists will be detoured via I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound to I-480 eastbound.
  • Overnight Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21, crews will restrict the ramp from I-90 westbound to I-77 southbound from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. for striping. Motorists may encounter brief delays.

Tremont Impacts

  • On Thursday, June 23, I-71 southbound will have a lane closure from Kenilworth to beyond Starkweather, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and again from 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Crews work to widen the I-71 southbound bridge over Starkweather. Minor lane restrictions and sidewalk closures will continue through the fall of 2011.
  • Until approximately July 20, crews on behalf of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District work to relocate an existing sewer in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Work is nearly complete, however minor operations remain. For more information, please contact NEORSD at 216.881.6600.

Permanent or Long-Term Closures and Construction Operations

  • Pile driving operations will continue through the fall of 2011.
  • Motorists may no longer access E 22nd Street from I-90 eastbound through the 2011 construction season. I-90 motorists should use Broadway Avenue to access E 22nd Street. I-77 northbound motorists may still access E 22nd Street.
  • The I-90 westbound ramp to I-77 southbound and I-77 northbound ramp to I-90 eastbound are restricted until approximately mid- to late June 2011.
  • The E 21st Street ramp to I-77 southbound is closed through approximately 2016.
  • The I-90 eastbound ramp to I-77 southbound and I-77 northbound ramp to I-90 westbound are permanently closed and motorists are rerouted via I-490.
  • University Road is permanently closed between W 13th Street and Scranton Road.
