Attention Innerbelt Motorists:  Lots of work is taking place as we prepare to open the new bridge!  We recently told you about a series of traffic changes needed to open the new bridge.  One of those ramp changes – the closure of the E 21st Street ramp to I-77 south – will now take place overnight November 7.  We appreciate your patience as these traffic changes take place! Continue to visit our “Traffic Impacts” page on the web at as long-term ramp closures are expected.  Check your inboxes for plans to celebrate this monumental opening!    
The following work will take place beginning Friday night:
Regional Interstate Impacts:
  • CANCELED!! Overnight Friday, November 1, I-77 south will close between I-90 and I-490 from 8 p.m. until 7 a.m. the morning of Saturday, November 2. Motorists may detour via I-71 south to SR 176 (Jennings Freeway) to I-480 to I-77 south.
Downtown Impacts:
  • On Saturday, November 2, Carnegie Avenue will be closed between Ontario and E 9th Streets from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • NEW!!  Monday thru Friday, November 4-8, Carnegie Avenue will be closed between Ontario and E 9th Streets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
  • UPDATED!!  Overnight Thursday, November 7, the E 21st Street ramp to I-77 south will close until completion of the second bridge in late 2016.

Tremont Impacts:

  • NEW!!  Daily Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8, Fairfield Avenue will be closed under I-90 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.  Use Starkweather or Kenilworth. 
Remember: Motorists are encouraged to "Opt for the Alternate!" and use I-490 and I-77 where an extra lane has been added and access to all downtown Cleveland exits is maintained. Using alternate forms of transportation, adjusting commute times and riding RTA are suggested to avoid congestion.
