Attention Commuters: I-90 Westbound between E 14th and Ontario CLOSED this Weekend
For a map of recent & upcoming changes, please log-on to www.Innerbelt.org and click on "Traffic Impacts." Remember... Opt for the Alternate! and use I-490 and I-77 to avoid the downtown construction. Highlights are below:
- OVERNIGHT TONIGHT thru MONDAY MORNING: I-90 westbound will be CLOSED completely between E 14th and Ontario Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, July 8 through 6 a.m. Monday, July 11 as work to restrict the westbound lanes takes place. Motorists will be detoured via I-77 southbound to I-490 westbound to I-90 westbound. Downtown motorists wishing to travel to the west side will still have access to I-90 westbound via both E 9th Street and Ontario Street.
**Please note: Motorists traveling from the east who would like to access Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood should use I-490 and W 7th Street. Downtown motorists will still be able to enter I-90 westbound from either E 9th or Ontario Streets and continue on to Abbey Avenue or W 14th Street.
On Monday morning, I-90 westbound will be reduced to two (2) lanes. The alternate route via I-77 and I-490 will also be open with one additional lane in each direction.
Each night, Monday through Saturday, crews will close E 14th Street AND E 9th Street under I-90 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to demolish portions of the overhead bridges. Motorists may detour via Carnegie to Ontario.
Each night, Monday through Saturday, crews will intermittently close the ramp from I-90 westbound to I-77 southbound from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. as crews demolish portions of the overhead bridges above the ramp. The ramp will be closed for 20 minute increments and then reopened to allow vehicles to pass.
Crews work to add two southbound lanes to E 22nd Street between Carnegie Avenue and Cedar Avenue. Beginning at midnight tonight and continuing until 6 a.m. Monday morning, eastbound traffic on Carnegie will be detoured onto Cedar and E 22nd Street in order to complete this work. The new southbound lanes should be open and ready for use by early Tuesday morning, June 12.
Daily lane closures will be implemented on both E 14th and E 9th Streets under I-90.
- Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., Starkweather will have one or both sidewalks closed during bridge deck demolition as crews work to widen the I-71 southbound bridge over Starkweather. During working hours, vehicular traffic will be alternated using a temporary signal that will allow traffic to move only one direction at a time. Both pedestrians and motorists may use Kenilworth to avoid delays.
Until approximately July 20, crews on behalf of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District work to relocate an existing sewer in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. Work is nearly complete, however minor operations remain. For more information, please contact NEORSD at 216.881.6600.
