Attention Commuters: Major Changes Coming Tonight!!
Beginning soon, I-90 will be restricted from three (3) lanes to two (2) lanes in each direction. For a map of upcoming changes, please log-on to www.Innerbelt.org and click on "Traffic Impacts." Highlights are below:
Gateway Impacts
- OVERNIGHT WEDNESDAY: I-90 eastbound will be reduced to two (2) lanes.
**Please Note: The additional lane on the ramp from I-77 northbound to I-90 eastbound will not be open for use until Sunday morning, July 10.
OVERNIGHT WEDNESDAY: Motorists will no longer be able to access Carnegie Avenue from I-90 eastbound. Motorists will still be able to access Carnegie Avenue using the alternate route via I-77.
OVERNIGHT FRIDAY thru MONDAY MORNING: I-90 westbound will be CLOSED completely between E 14th and Ontario Streets from 8 p.m. Friday, July 8 through 6 a.m. Monday, July 11 as work to restrict the westbound lanes takes place. Motorists will be detoured via I-77 southbound to I-490 westbound to I-90 westbound. Downtown motorists wishing to travel to the west side will still have access to I-90 westbound via both E 9th Street and Ontario Street. **Please note: Motorists traveling from the east who would like to access Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood should use I-490 to W 7th Street. Downtown motorists will still be able to enter I-90 westbound from either E 9th or Ontario Streets and continue on to Abbey Avenue or W 14th Street.
On Monday morning, I-90 westbound will be reduced to two (2) lanes. The alternate route via I-77 and I-490 will also be open with one additional lane in each direction.
Regional Interstate & Ramp Impacts
I-71 northbound will be restricted to one lane north of SR 176 (the Jennings Freeway). The ramp from I-71/SR 176 (the Jennings Freeway) will be widened to allow for an extra lane of traffic to I-90 west and I-490 east to I-90 east.
OVERNIGHT WEDNESDAY: The I-490 westbound ramp to I-77 northbound will be closed to allow free-flow of traffic on the ramp from I-490 east to I-77 north. Motorists will be detoured via W 7th Street.
Permanent or Long-Term Closures and Construction Operations
- Pile driving operations will continue through the fall of 2011.

Motorists no longer have direct access to I-71 north or I-90 east from SR 176 (the Jennings Freeway). Motorists are directed to I-490 eastbound to I-77 northbound to I-90 eastbound.

The E 30th Street/Woodland ramp to I-77 northbound is closed through the 2011 construction season. Motorists are directed via Woodland, E 22nd and Prospect to I-90 east.

Motorists may no longer access E 22nd Street from I-90 eastbound through the 2011 construction season. I-77 northbound motorists may still access E 22nd Street.

The E 14th Street ramps to both I-77 southbound and I-90 westbound are closed through the summer of 2012.

The E 21st Street ramp to I-77 southbound is closed through approximately 2016.

The I-90 eastbound ramp to I-77 southbound and I-77 northbound ramp to I-90 westbound are permanently closed.

University Road is permanently closed between W 13th Street and Scranton Road.
