Crews Prep to Open New Bridge!  We’ve implemented many traffic changes over the past several weeks and we hope that your commutes are going more smoothly.  If you have any observations, questions or comments, please share!

Beginning soon, a series of additional traffic switches – which will happen over a series of weekends – will take place to open the new westbound bridge!  The first of those switches could happen as soon as November 9!  During this initial switch:
  • Ontario ENTRANCE ramp will OPEN onto the new bridge for access to I-90 west ONLY
During a later switch, access will be restored to reach I-71 south.  All other traffic remains on the old bridge.
  • E 9th Street ENTRANCE ramp will OPEN onto the new bridge for access to I-90 west ONLY
During a later switch, access will be restored to reach I-71 south. All other traffic remains on the old bridge.
  •  NEW!!  Ontario Street EXIT ramp from I-90 east will CLOSE
The E 9th Street EXIT ramp will remain OPEN, however is expected to be quite congested. Opt for the Alternate! Use I-490 east to I-77 north where access to ALL downtown exits will be maintained.
  • E 14 Street ENTRANCE to I-90 west will CLOSE
This ramp will remain closed through construction of the second Innerbelt Bridge, in late 2016. Use E 14th Street to Orange Avenue south to I-77 south to I-490 west to I-90 west.
  • UPDATED!!  E 21st Street ENTRANCE to I-77 south will CLOSE - This ramp is expected to CLOSE Nov 6
This ramp will remain closed through construction of the second Innerbelt Bridge, in late 2016. Use Carnegie Avenue to E 14th or E 22nd Streets where motorists may enter Orange Avenue and continue on to I-77 south.
This is what the traffic pattern will look like in late November when ALL traffic is moved onto the new bridge:

Work to open the new bridge is weather dependent, so dates are subject to change!  Continue to visit our “Traffic Impacts” page on the web at www.Innerbelt.org as additional long-term ramp closures are expected!  Check your inboxes for plans to celebrate this monumental opening!

Remember: Motorists are encouraged to "Opt for the Alternate!" and use I-490 and I-77 where an extra lane has been added and access to all downtown Cleveland exits is maintained. Using alternate forms of transportation, adjusting commute times and riding RTA are suggested to avoid congestion.
Please exercise caution in work zones. For statewide construction information visit: www.Ohgo.com.  Motorists are encouraged to ride RTA or carpool through OhioRideshare during these restrictions.  To unsubscribe from this group, please reply with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.  For more information, log-on to Innerbelt.org or dial the Project Hotline at 216.344.0069.
