Beginning June 18 crews will work to make improvements to Orange Avenue and East 30th Street, south of the Innerbelt. Looking north, Orange is to the left in this image, with East 9th on the right. East 30th is out of view.
Downtown Impacts: Starting today, Wednesday, June 18, crews will begin operations to replace pavement, reconfigure and improve Orange Avenue south of I-90 as it approaches I-77. A new, multi-purpose path for bikes and pedestrians will also be constructed on the west side of Orange during a later phase of the project. In addition to the work on Orange, crews will also perform upgrades on E 30th Street under I-90. Traffic will be maintained during the bulk of work, however lane closures on both Orange Avenue and E 30th are expected during off-peak hours. Work will continue through the summer.
This work is in preparation for the fall 2014 reconfiguration of access for downtown motorists bound for I-77 south. For more information on these upcoming changes, please visit www.Innerbelt.org and select “Project Overview” from the menu at the left.
