Interstate Impacts: I-90 west, between I-77 south and the E 9th Street entrance ramp, will close overnight Friday, June 27, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday morning, June 28. Crews will be implementing a shift in the traffic lanes. All motorists will be detoured to I-77 south to I-490 west to I-90 west. When I-90 west reopens, traffic will be in a shifted pattern and the current number of lanes will remain open.
Motorists entering I-90 west from E 9th and Ontario will not be impacted by this closure. I-90 east will remain open.
Tremont Impacts: Abbey Avenue, under I-90, will close Monday, June 30, from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, as crews continue to remove steel girders from the old Innerbelt Bridge overhead. Motorists will be detoured via West 11th Street to Kenilworth Avenue to Willey Avenue to Columbus Road. This is a change from an earlier announcement. Abbey will be open to traffic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 27 - June 29.
Crews will also be working to set up pile driving operations along Kenilworth at I-90. Flaggers will direct traffic around the crews unloading materials and setting up equipment. This is being done in anticipation of pile driving beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, and continuing at Kenilworth until moving to Starkweather. Pile driving operations are expected to go on through July 17. Traffic will be maintained during this operation. Pile driving is permitted to take place from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7-days-a-week, however the contractor expects to work daylight hours only.
Flats Impacts: Flaggers will control traffic on Canal Road under I-90 on Wednesday, July 2, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Downtown Impacts: Work continues on Orange Avenue and E 30th Street. Crews are replacing pavement, reconfiguring and improving Orange Avenue south of I-90 as it approaches I-77. Crews are also upgrading E 30th Street under I-90. Traffic will be maintained during the bulk of work, however lane closures on Orange and E 30th are expected during off-peak hours.
In the coming weeks, pavement work is also expected to begin on E 22nd Street and Woodland Avenue. E 22nd Street is being repaved between Orange and Carnegie Avenues, Woodland will be resurfaced between E 30th and E 22nd Streets. Details of lane closures will be forthcoming.
