On Friday, July 15 at 7:30 p.m. crews will close one lane on SR 2 westbound between Heisley Road and SR 615 – in the city of Mentor – until 6 a.m. Monday, July 18 in order to perform culvert work.

On Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17, crews will reduce SR 2 eastbound to one lane between Lost Nation Road and SR 306 – in the cities of Mentor and Willoughby – from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in order to perform traffic shift preparations.

The State Route 2 Corridor was originally built during the 1960’s and designed for traffic volumes around 30,000 vehicles each day. Since that time, traffic volumes have more than doubled in the region. ODOT’s four-phase modernization plan is the first major upgrade to the roadway since that time.

The Lake 2 Corridor Modernization Plan and ODOT’s nearly $181 million investment will address substandard geometrics, noise and drainage issues as well as increase capacity in the region. This plan will modernize State Route 2 with a 35 year pavement design that will not require major maintenance for over two decades.
