Major Pavement Reconstruction on I-90 in Lake County
Village of Madison, LeRoy, Perry and Madison Townships, Lake County
Garfield Heights, Ohio (Friday, April 23, 2010) – Beginning Sunday, April 25, 2010 the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Anthony Allega Cement Contractors Inc. will begin a major pavement reconstruction project on I-90 between Paine Road and the Ashtabula County Line.
Crews will close one lane of traffic on portions of I-90 eastbound between Paine Road and the Ashtabula County Line beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Portions will remain closed until 2 p.m. the following day. Work will continue overnight six days a week – Sunday night through Saturday morning – for approximately six weeks as crews construct temporary cross-overs and replace shoulders with temporary pavement.
A single lane closure on portions of I-90 westbound will also be in effect between the Ashtabula County Line and Paine Road each night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for approximately six weeks for cross-over construction and shoulder work.
Rush hour traffic will not be affected by this work.
Traffic will be maintained with two lanes in each direction throughout the duration of the project utilizing temporary cross-overs and shoulders.
The existing concrete pavement along this stretch of I-90 is original and was constructed in 1958. This pavement has outlived its useful life and is no longer able to maintain its structural integrity. The new, full depth asphalt pavement should not require major maintenance for 35 years.
The entire project is scheduled to be complete in June 2012.
All dates and times are approximate and weather dependent. For statewide construction and road condition information visit www.BuckeyeTraffic.org.
