Mayfield Road Construction Nearing Completion
All I-271 ramps to reopen by Friday morning rush hour
Mayfield Heights (Thursday, July 30, 2009) – Work is nearing completion on the three-year $17.5 million U.S. 322 (Mayfield Road) Reconstruction project.
Last Wednesday, July 22, the Ohio Department of Transportation reopened the Mayfield Road westbound ramps to I-271 north and southbound.
By rush hour tomorrow morning, Friday, July 31, weather permitting, crews expect to reopen the I-271 north and southbound exit ramps to Mayfield Road westbound. The ramps currently remain detoured via the Mayfield Road eastbound exits. Signal modifications allow left hand turns at these intersections to permit traffic to enter Mayfield Road in the westbound direction.
After Friday morning, motorist entering and exiting Mayfield Road will be in their normal configuration. Construction will continue on Mayfield Road closing one lane both east and westbound between Golden Gate Plaza and Walmart Drive in order to complete work at the interchange. Two lanes in each direction will remain open for traffic. Lane closures are expected to continue into September.
The entire three-year project widens a portion and reconstructs Mayfield Road between Lander Road and the eastern Mayfield Heights Corp. limit and is expected to be complete on or around October 31, 2009.
All dates and times are approximate and weather dependent. For statewide construction and road condition information visit www.BuckeyeTraffic.org.
