Mayfield Road Work Ahead of Schedule
August 25, 2008, Garfield Heights, OH… In collaboration with the City of Mayfield Heights and Anthony Allega Cement Contractor, Inc., the Ohio Department of Transportation has completed two of three sections of the Mayfield Road Construction Project ahead of schedule.
Sections 1 and 3 (Lander Road to Golden Gate Boulevard and Wal-Mart Drive to the eastern city limits) were completely opened to traffic on Friday, August 22. Work was originally intended to be complete in late 2008.
In order to expedite work at the intersection of I-271 and Mayfield Road, construction crews will close the eastbound Mayfield Road entrance ramps to I-271 north and southbound, for a period of 60 days.
The westbound Mayfield Road entrance ramps to I-271 will be maintained. All I-271 exit ramps to Mayfield Road will be maintained. Both ramps will close concurrently shortly after the morning rush on Tuesday, September 2.
Motorists who wish to access I-271 north and southbound from eastbound Mayfield Road may detour via Wilson Mills Road.
Closures are necessary as crews work to rehabilitate the eastbound lanes of Mayfield Road.
All construction impediments will be removed from Mayfield Road beginning on or around November 26, 2008. Work in Section 2 will commence again in the spring of 2009.
The entire three-year project widens a portion and reconstructs Mayfield Road between Lander Road and the eastern Mayfield Heights corporation limit. The entire project is expected to be complete in September 2009.
All dates and times are approximate and weather dependent.
