GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Thursday, April 12 2018) – The following Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT)projects have work involving ramp and/or lane closures tonight and the week of April 15:
Catch Basin Reconstruction, Brook Park and Middleburg Heights
On Friday, April 13, the left lane of I-71
northbound will be closed between north of Sheldon Rd. to north of the I-480
split from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. to reconstruct four catch
basins. The lane will reopen as soon as the concrete cures, no later than 6
a.m. on Monday, April 16. This entire project will rebuild thirteen catch
basins on I-71 between Bagley Rd. and I-480.
I-77 Widening, Brecksville and
On Monday, April 23 work to
apply the final driving surface to I-77 between the Ohio Turnpike (I-80) and Oakes
Rd. will resume. The inside lanes of I-77 north and southbound will temporarily
close for median work, manhole adjustments and paving operations through
mid-July. Two lanes of I-77 will be maintained in both directions during this
work. I-77 north and southbound is currently open to three lanes between the
Ohio Turnpike (I-80) and Oakes Road. Crews will return in the spring of 2018 to
complete final paving and pavement marking operations. Speeds will be reduced
while construction workers are present
utilizing Variable Speed Limit signs.
The entire project widens I-77 to three
lanes in each direction between just south of Oakes Road and the Ohio Turnpike (I-80) near the Summit County line.
I-77 Exit Ramp to State Route 21,
On Thursday, April 12, all lanes of I-77 northbound will
temporarily close at I-480 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for a lane shift. Motorists will be detoured via I-480 westbound to SR 176 north to I-490
east to access I-77. All entrance and exit ramps on I-77 northbound between SR 21 and Fleet
Avenue - including the SR 21/Brecksville Road entrance ramp - will remain open.
This entire project will
replace the I-77 southbound exit ramp bridge to SR 21 in Cuyahoga Heights.
I-90 Resurfacing, Rocky
River and Westlake
On Wednesday, April 18,
nightly two-lane closures will begin again on I-90 eastbound between Columbia
Rd. and Clague Rd. for resurfacing work. The entrance and exit ramps at
Columbia Rd. will intermittently be closed during the night. Detours will be
I-90 over E. 185th
St., Neff Rd. and E. 200th St., Cleveland
On Thursday, April 12 crews
will shift all lanes of I-90 east and westbound between E. 185th St.
and E. 200th St. and narrow lanes to 10 ft. wide. The following
ramps will close as part of this work: East 185th Street northbound entrance
ramp to I-90 westbound, East 200th Street entrance ramp to I-90 westbound, Neff
Road/South Waterloo Road ramp entrance ramp to I-90 eastbound and I-90
westbound exit ramp to East 185th Street. Detours can be
found at this link. The entire projects will replace the bridge
decks of three mainline bridges on I-90 over E. 185th St., Neff Rd.
and E. 200th St. in the city of Cleveland. Off-peak lane closures
will be needed in preparation for traffic shifts and ramp closures. Details
will be forthcoming on ramp closures.

I-271 widening, Bedford, Bedford
Heights, Warrensville Heights and Oakwood
As of Thursday, April 12,
I-271 southbound between I-480 and Broadway/Forbes is in a contraflow
configuration, with the left lane maintained on the northbound side of I-271. Note: Motorists who take the left lane will not be able to exit at Broadway/Forbes.
Overnight Thursday, April 12 all I-271 southbound traffic will be diverted to
the contraflow lane from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for pavement repairs between Rockside
Rd. and Columbus Rd.
I-480 east lane
reconfiguration, Cleveland, Maple Hts. and Warrensville Hts.
Overnight Thursday, April
12, there will be a left lane closure on I-480 westbound and a right lane
closure on I-480 eastbound between Warrensville Center Rd. and Lee Rd. from 7
p.m. to 6 a.m. for barrier wall placement and to move equipment. Overnight
Friday, April 13 there will be intermittent short-term single lane closures on
I-480 eastbound between Lee Rd. and the I-271 interchange for various
operations from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Sunday, April 15 there will be a left lane
closure on I-480 eastbound between Lee Rd. and Warrensville Center Rd. from 7
p.m. to 6 a.m. to place a barrier wall.
U.S. 422 Slope Repair Over
Crews have returned to
repair bridge approach slabs. On Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13, U.S.
422 eastbound will be reduced to one lane between SOM Center Rd. (SR 91) and
the Liberty Rd. overpass from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Remaining operations include landscaping
State Route 2/Main Avenue Bridge Maintenance,
On Friday, April 13
crews will close all lanes of SR 2/Main Avenue Bridge westbound (outbound)
between First Energy Stadium and West 28th Street from 8 p.m. to approximately
1 a.m. to install striping for the right lane closure. At approximately 1 a.m.,
crews will close all lanes of SR 2/Main Avenue Bridge eastbound (inbound)
between West 28th Street and First Energy Stadium until 10 a.m. Saturday to
install striping for the right lane closure. When the bridge re-opens Saturday,
April 14, the right lane will be closed and remain closed through late-May. Overnight each night Monday, April 16 through Friday,
April 20, crews will close all
lanes of SR 2/Main Avenue Bridge westbound (outbound) between West 28th Street
and First Energy Stadium from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to install portable
concrete barrier wall. Westbound traffic will be detoured via West 3rd Street,
Superior Avenue, West 25th Street to SR 2 westbound.
State Route 176 Bridge Deck
Replacement over I-71, Cleveland
Daily Tuesday, April 17
through Friday, April 20, crews will close the left or right shoulders on SR
176 south over I-71 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pavement removal and replacement
operations on each shoulder to accommodate the upcoming traffic shift. During the week of April 22, crews will reduce SR 176 south
over I-71 to one lane, which will be shifted on to the left side of the bridge
as crews work to replace the right side of the bridge deck. On Monday, April 23, the West 14th Street
entrance ramp to SR 176 south will close through mid-August for
bridge deck removal and replacement operations. Motorists will be detoured via
I-71 southbound to West 25th Street to Denison Avenue to SR 176 southbound.
Newell Street over State Route 2 bridge
deck replacement, Painesville
Friday, April 20, crews will close the Newell Street bridge over SR 2 for approximately
180 days to replace the driving surface and replace steel beams on the bridge. Motorists
will be detoured via U.S. 20 (Mentor Avenue), SR 44, SR 2, Heisley Rd. and
