ODOT to Begin Repair Project on Main Avenue Bridge
Truck Restrictions in Place Starting Today
GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Tuesday, July 17, 2012) – In the coming weeks, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will begin a project to repair eight steel members on the State Route 2/Main Avenue Bridge over the Cuyahoga River in the city of Cleveland.
Beginning today, crews will restrict all truck traffic on the bridge in preparation for the repairs. By removing heavy truck traffic, crews can safely make the necessary repairs while keeping the bridge open to cars and other small vehicles. No lanes will be closed on the bridge as work takes place.
All heavy truck traffic will be detoured off the bridge effective immediately. Detours for large trucks are below:
From the East, Using State Route 2 West:
State Route 2 westbound traffic will be detoured via West 3rd Street to Superior Avenue and over the Detroit-Superior Bridge to continue on Detroit Avenue (U.S. 6) westbound.
From the West, Using State Route 2 East:
State Route 2 eastbound traffic will be detoured via West 25th Street to the Detroit-Superior Bridge to West 3rd Street to State Route 2 eastbound.
Repairs will begin on the bridge in the coming weeks, with little or no impacts to traffic. Truck traffic restrictions are expected to be in place through winter 2012.
