ODOT Crews ‘Spring Cleaning’ around Downtown Cleveland
Snow Melts and Spring Cleaning Begins
Garfield Heights (Friday, March 19, 2010) – Spring will officially arrive tomorrow and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) maintenance crews have been working hard to clean-up around downtown Cleveland in anticipation.
Each spring, the District 12 crews of Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake Counties switch their focus from ice and snow removal to clean-up and maintenance of greater Cleveland’s State Routes, U.S. Routes and Interstates – and when the snow is gone, crews polish-up the streets in and near downtown by picking-up litter, trimming trees, repairing fences and sweeping roadways.
"Crews from each of our three counties are working together to make major improvements during this clean-up effort at so many downtown locations,” said Highway Management Administrator, Dennis Albrecht, Jr., P.E. “A great deal of work has been accomplished in the past week, and will continue into the spring months."
These spring cleaning efforts improve motorist’s safety by increasing visibility and eliminating driver distractions.
