Closures to now take place September 9 and 10

Garfield Heights (Monday, September 7, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has postponed the overnight closures on portions of State Route 2 for one evening. 

Overnight Thursday, September 9 crews will close State Route 2 in the eastbound direction at Vine Street and the Vine Street entrance ramp to State Route 2 eastbound from 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning as crews work to erect new structural steel beams at Lost Nation Road.

Crews will begin work at 7 p.m. by closing one lane in each direction on State Route 2 at Lost Nation Road.  Intermittent complete closures of State Route 2 in the westbound direction will begin at 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning utilizing rolling road blocks, resulting in minor delays to traffic.

Eastbound motorists will be detoured via Vine Street to Mentor Avenue to Reynolds Road. 

Overnight Friday, September 10, crews will close one lane of State Route 2 westbound at Lost Nation Road at 7 p.m. followed by intermittent complete closures of State Route 2 westbound at Lost Nation Road and the Lost Nation Road entrance ramp to State Route 2 westbound beginning at 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning.  Crews will once again be working to erect new structural steel beams at Lost Nation Road.

East and westbound motorists are advised to use alternate routes during these closures. 

In other project news, the State Route 2 westbound exit ramp to State Route 91 remains closed through approximately September 10.  Motorists may detour via Vine Street. 

The Lost Nation Road southbound entrance ramp to State Route 2 westbound is closed through late November 2010.  The project has been re-prioritized in order to allow the ramp to reopen for a seven-month period between late November 2010 and late July/early August 2011. 

This ramp, along with the northbound Lost Nation Road ramp to State Route 2 westbound will close again when all State Route 2 traffic is shifted onto the existing eastbound lanes next summer.  St. Clair Street is open to westbound traffic only.  Motorists now have the option of taking Erie Street to Vine Street or traveling north on Erie Street to connect with Lost Nation Road northbound and State Route 2 westbound. 

Through late November, Lost Nation Road traffic will be maintained with one lane in each direction between Wood Road and Riverside Commons. 

The State Route 91 entrance ramp to State Route 2 eastbound is closed until approximately September 26.  Motorists are detoured via Vine Street.  On State Route 91 at State Route 2, one lane in each direction is closed through the 2010 construction season. 

On Vine Street at State Route 2, one lane in each direction is closed through the 2010 construction season. 

Reeves Road remains closed at Lost Nation Rd. through the 2010 construction season.  The detour is set utilizing Hurricane Drive. 

Reconstruction of State Route 2 will continue.  Occasional lane closures may be utilized during nonpeak times.  The entire project rehabilitates State Route 2 and adds a lane between State Route 91 and Newell Creek/State Route 306 and is expected to be complete in October 2011.
