Rocky River: Lake Road Project Schedule Adjusted
Lake Road to remain closed to eastbound traffic through the winter until project completion
Garfield Heights, Ohio (Friday, November 12, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), City of Rocky River and contractor DiGioia-Suburban recently announced in a letter to local businesses and residents that U.S. 6 (Lake Road) between Wagar Road and Linda Street will remain closed to eastbound traffic through the winter months until completion of the project. Westbound traffic is maintained.
Crews had originally anticipated reopening the roadway to both east and westbound traffic during the winter months and again closing the eastbound lanes next spring, however in an effort to expedite the work, the project’s work schedule has been adjusted.
Local two-way traffic on Lake Road between Morewood Parkway and the parking lot entrance for Lake Road Market, Grady’s and Danny Boy’s Restaurant will be maintained until permanent paving begins in the spring of 2011.
Through the winter of 2010/2011 crews will continue underground work to install the new sanitary sewer main and sanitary connections to businesses and residents. Work will also include a new storm sewer main with connections to businesses and residences, new catch basins and new water service for properties on the north side of U.S. 6 (Lake Road).
During the spring of 2011 crews will replace the existing pavement and install new driveway aprons and sidewalks on U.S. 6 (Lake Road) between Linda Street and Morewood Parkway and reconstruct the intersection of Lake Road and Elmwood Road. All work is expected to be complete on, or around, July 30, 2011.
Eastbound motorists will remain detoured via Detroit Road. Truck traffic will utilize Linda Street to access businesses on Lake Road while eastbound traffic is restricted. Westbound traffic will be maintained. Access to all Lake Road businesses will be maintained.
