SR 44 Entrance Ramp to U.S. 422 Westbound to Close for 30 days
Work to resurface U.S. 422 westbound is underway
GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Thursday, April 10, 2014) – On Thursday, April 17, crews working on the U.S. 422 minor rehabilitation project will close the SR 44 entrance ramp to U.S. 422 westbound for 30 days. The closure is necessary as crews will be rebuilding this entrance ramp as part of the project.

During the closure, motorists will detour via SR 44 northbound to SR 87 westbound to SR 306 southbound to U.S. 422 westbound.

On April 21, crews will shift all lanes of traffic on to U.S. 422 eastbound for approximately four months. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction utilizing a "contraflow" traffic pattern.  Portable concrete barriers will be used to seperate east and westbound traffic while one lane of U.S. 422 westbound is shifted onto the eastbound side of the highway. This configuration allows the contractor to have full access to a safe work zone during all phases of construction.
The entire project rehabilitates U.S. 422 between SR 306 and SR 44, including replacing the U.S. 422 eastbound exit and westbound entrance ramps to SR 44, in Bainbridge and Auburn townships.
