Slope Stabilization on I-480 at SR 176 to Begin Monday

GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Friday, May 13, 2011)During the week of May 16th, crews on behalf of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will work to correct a washout along I-480 eastbound at SR 176 (Jennings Freeway) that occurred following heavy rain overnight Thursday.

The Kokosing Construction Company will begin work on Monday, May 16 with a right shoulder closure in order to begin preparations for the repair. 

Tuesday, May 17 through Friday, May 20, the right lane of I-480 eastbound at SR 176 (Jennings Freeway) will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews work to install a 12-inch pipe to improve drainage and apply a combination of rock and grout to help stabilize the area.

The washout occurred on Thursday, May 12 at approximately 6:30 p.m. and crews were forced to close the right two lanes of I-480 eastbound at SR 176 (Jennings Freeway) in order to remove debris from the roadway.  All lanes were reopened around 1 a.m. on Friday, May 13.
