Overpass Closure & Repairs South Marginal Overpass over I-90
CLEVELAND (November18, 2011) – Due to safety concerns, crews have closed South Marginal overpass above I-90 for deck inspection and repairs until further notice. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
As a result of substantial amounts of recent rain, it has been determined through initial inspection that repairs to the timber sub-deck are necessary. Eastbound drivers will be detoured via State Route 2 east, to I-90 east and will exit at South Marginal Road. Westbound drivers will be detoured via East 55th Street north, to I-90 west, to State Route 2 west and will exit at South Marginal Road.
The closure will be followed by a complete inspection and repairs. Drivers should expect lane closures on I-90 from the Innerbelt Curve to Superior Avenue through December 30. On the weekends, drivers will encounter daytime & nighttime lane closures. Only nighttime lane closures will be used through the week.
Traffic analysis shows a maximum of 893 drivers utilize the South Marginal overpass each day.
