State Route 87 Road Closures Postponed, Will Begin Monday, September 19Culvert replacement closes road for seven consecutive days
GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Thursday, September 8, 2011) – Work to replace two culverts along State Route 87 in Geauga County’s Russell and Newbury Townships has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts. The work has been rescheduled and will begin on Monday, September 19.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Burton Scot Contractors will close SR 87, to east and westbound traffic, one-half mile east of SR 306 on Monday, September 19. Crews will complete work on the first culvert east of SR 306 and reopen the area to traffic. Crews will then close SR 87, to east and westbound traffic, just west of Munn Road to replace the second culvert. Both culvert replacements are expected to be complete Monday, September 26 – weather permitting.
Only one culvert replacement location will be closed at a time over the seven day period. SR 87 truck traffic will be detoured via SR 306 to U.S. 322 to SR 44 to avoid the closure. In addition to the truck detour, local traffic will have access to several alternate routes.
