State Route 237 (Front Street) Closure Postponed
ODOT to reevaluate project phasing and sequencing

Garfield Heights (May 29, 2009, 2:28 PM) The Ohio Department of Transportation has postponed the complete closure of State Route 237 (Front Street) between Second Avenue and a point between the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks in order to reevaluate project phasing and sequencing in order to better accommodate businesses and residences in the vicinity.

The closure was originally scheduled for Monday, June 1, 2009.  Details and an updated project schedule will be forthcoming.

On Monday, June 1 crews will, however, close Emerson Avenue between Front Street and North Rocky River Drive in order to install new pavement.  Emerson is expected to remain closed through the duration of the project.

Access to the Lou Groza Boulevard/Front Street intersection will remain from Bagley Road only.  Motorists traveling north on Front Street may still access Lou Groza Blvd. in the eastbound direction.  Motorists traveling west on Lou Groza Blvd. may also access Front Street in the southbound direction.

Access to businesses north of the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks remains from North Rocky River Drive only.

Depot Street remains closed between Columbus Street and Front Street as crews work to realign the Depot Street intersection with Lou Groza Boulevard.  Access to Depot Street is from Bagley Road via North Rocky River Drive only.

Front Street will remain closed until approximately late October 2010 as crews work to construct a grade separation to carry Front Street traffic over the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks and an access road.

Access to driveways will be maintained throughout the project however access points will vary as construction progresses.  For up-to-date project information visit www.BuckeyeTraffic.org.
