State Route 2 Eastbound Temporary Closure Rescheduled for Overnight October 26 & 27
October 22, 2009, Garfield Heights, OH… Crews on behalf of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) have rescheduled the temporary closure of SR 2 eastbound between Vine Street and Lost Nation Road for overnight Monday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 27 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. in order to erect structural steel at the Lost Nation Road bridge.
State Route 2 eastbound traffic will be detoured via Vine Street eastbound to Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20) eastbound to SR 306 northbound. The closure was originally scheduled for overnight October 22 and 23, however was delayed due to forecasted inclement weather.
Also on Monday, October 26, crews will close the SR 2 westbound exit ramp to SR 306 north and southbound for a period of approximately 45 days or until December 10, 2009. The detour route will be posted utilizing SR 615 and Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20). With this ramp closure, the detour for the SR 2 westbound exit ramp to Lost Nation Road will be altered. The new posted detour will utilize Vine Street to Erie Street.
Delays are expected.
On SR 2, traffic in Stage One between Lost Nation Road and Newell Creek/SR 306 has been shifted on to the new SR 2 eastbound pavement.
Additional ramps including the SR 2 westbound exit ramp to Lost Nation Road; the Lost Nation Road entrance ramps to SR 2 westbound; and the Vine Street eastbound entrance ramp to SR 2 westbound remain closed.
Stevens Blvd. remains closed between Ben Hur Ave. and East 365th Street, Lost Nation Road traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction between Wood Road and Riverside Commons and Reeves Road remains closed at Lost Nation Road.
Widening work in Stage Two between SR 91 and Stevens Blvd. will take place during the 2010 construction season and widening in Stage Three between Stevens Blvd. and Lost Nation Road will take place during the 2011 construction season.
The entire three-stage project rehabilitates SR 2 and adds a lane between SR 91 and Newell Creek/SR 306 and is expected to be completed in October 2011.
