State Route 86 reopens
Concord & Painesville Townships, Painesville, Lake County

October 31, 2008, Garfield Heights, OH The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) today joined local officials, as well as community members and local residents,  to commemorate the official opening of the $6.4 million State Route 86 Relocation project in Lake County’s Concord and Painesville Townships and City of Painesville.

“This project will improve mobility and greatly increase safety on this portion of roadway,” said Dennis Albrecht, Highway Management Administrator.

The SR 86 Relocation project, which began in July of 2007, was originally intended to be complete during the summer of 2009 however with the cooperation of contractor Anthony Allega Cement Contractor, Inc., ODOT completed the project nearly one full year in advance.

“It’s not often that we can brag about a project being completed well ahead of schedule – nearly one year early in fact,” said Albrecht.  “ODOT and the contractor worked together to implement some innovative construction phasing and scheduling, specifically performing work on State Route 84 simultaneously with work on State Route 86, which enabled us to complete the project well in advance.”

The project included the realignment and construction of a new, two-lane roadway between Grandridge Pointe Drive and State Route 84.  Work also included the construction of a new bridge over Kellogg Creek and the realignment of several adjacent roadways and intersections.
