Two projects kick-off around Lake County
State Route 2 major rehabilitation & lane addition highlights Lake County construction
March 26, 2009, Garfield Heights, OH…Beginning Monday, March 30, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will begin two public improvement projects in Lake County.
State Route 2, Major Rehabilitation & Lane Addition
In conjunction with joint contractors Anthony Allega Cement Contractors Inc. and the Great Lakes Construction Company, ODOT will begin reconstruction of the second phase of the Lake 2 Corridor between State Route 91 and Newell Creek/State Route 306 in the cities of Eastlake, Willoughby and Mentor.
Crews will begin the first stage of the project between Lost Nation Road and Newell Creek/SR 306. Lane closures are expected during off-peak hours as crews work to build temporary pavement. In late April crews will shift all traffic to the westbound half of the pavement utilizing temporary crossovers. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Ramp closures are expected as the project progresses, however closures will be limited to no more than 45 days each. Ramp closures details will be forthcoming.
Work between Stevens Boulevard and Lost Nation Road will be completed in 2010 and work between State Route 91 and Stevens Boulevard will be completed in 2011.
The entire project rehabilitates State Route 2 and adds a lane between State Route 91 and Newell Creek/State Route 306 and is expected to be complete in October of 2011. On average, about 68,000 vehicles travel this portion of State Route 2 each day.
