GARFIELD HEIGHTS (Wednesday, April 1, 2015, 11 a.m.) – The right lane of U.S. 422 eastbound remains closed at Harper Road. ODOT is currently working on repair plans for the U.S. 422 bridge and will implement the following closures overnight tonight.
At 7 p.m., crews will close the left lane of U.S. 422 eastbound at Harper Road in order to perform pavement milling operations. At 11 p.m., crews will close all lanes of U.S. 422 eastbound at Harper Road until 6 a.m. Thursday, April 2 in order to perform paving operations. Motorists will be detoured off U.S. 422 eastbound at Harper Road and directed back onto U.S. 422 eastbound via the Harper Road entrance ramp. The Solon Police Department will be on hand to help direct motorists.
At 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, the right lane of U.S. 422 eastbound at Harper Road will remain closed as the new pavement cools. Weather permitting on Thursday or Friday, crews will perform striping operations and shift eastbound traffic in order to reopen the left lane.
The contractor will need dry pavement in order to place the pavement markings, therefore another update will be sent when it is determined both lanes will reopen. Traffic on U.S. 422 eastbound will be shifted for approximately two months while the bridge repairs take place.
ODOT is working with a contractor to make the necessary repairs after a vehicle struck the bridge on Monday. Harper Road, once cleaned-up from the accident, will be minimally impacted by the repairs.
