U.S. 6 Construction in Rocky River to Begin August 25
Lake Road will close to eastbound traffic Friday, August 27
Garfield Heights, Ohio (Thursday, August 19, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the City of Rocky River and contractor DiGioia-Suburban Excavating, LCC, will begin a project to repair U.S. 6 (Lake Road) in the City of Rocky River on approximately August 25, 2010.
Beginning August 27, 2010 U.S. 6 (Lake Road) between Morewood Parkway and Linda Street will be closed to eastbound traffic until approximately late December 2010. Eastbound motorists will be detoured via Detroit Road. Truck traffic may utilize Linda Street to access the businesses on Lake Road while eastbound traffic is restricted. Westbound traffic will be maintained.
The closure is necessary as crews work to install a new sanitary sewer main and sanitary connections to businesses and residents. Work will also include a new storm sewer main with connections to businesses and residences, new catch basins and new water service for properties on the north side of U.S. 6 (Lake Road).
Work will take place four to five days a week Monday through Friday - 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
At the completion of the underground work in approximately late December 2010, the road will be re-opened to eastbound and westbound traffic. Please be advised that the road will once again be closed to eastbound traffic in spring 2011 until the project is complete on, or around, July 30, 2011.
During the 2011 construction season, crews will replace the existing pavement and install new driveway aprons and sidewalks on U.S. 6 (Lake Road) between Linda Street and Morewood Parkway and reconstruct the intersection of Lake Road and Elmwood Road.
