West 25th Street Exit Ramp Closure Moved to Sunday
CLEVELAND (Friday, April 10, 2015) – As part of a safety improvement project to help improve the flow of traffic for westside commuters, the West 25th Street exit ramp from I-90 east is now set to close Sunday evening April 12. The ramp will remain closed until about mid-May. Work was originally scheduled for overnight April 10, but has been postponed due to inclement weather.
In order to implement the ramp closure and shift traffic in the vicinity, the following will be in effect this weekend:
· Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. thru 6 a.m. Saturday crews will close the left lane on I-90 east at West 25th Street.
· Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. thru 6 a.m. on Monday crews will close multiple lanes along I-90 east at West 25th Street.
· Sunday, April 12 at 8 p.m. thru 2 a.m. Monday morning, ALL ramps at the I-90 east/I-71 south/SR 176 south interchange will be closed. All motorists must use I-490 east. I-90 eastbound motorists should Opt for the Alternate! and use I-490 east to I-77 north to access I-90 east. Those bound for I-71 or SR 176 south should use I-490 east to Broadway Avenue where they may reenter I-490 in the westbound direction and continue on to SR 176 south and I-71 south. **During this time, the West 25th Street exit ramp from I-90 east will be closed until mid-May. See detours below.
Work times are coordinated to allow Sunday’s Tribe traffic to enter Downtown Cleveland uninterrupted. Traffic exiting Downtown will not be impacted.
During the West 25th Street ramp closure, motorists who wish to access locations along West 25th Street north of I-90 – including the West Side Market and other Ohio City destinations – should use West 41st Street to Lorain Avenue.
Motorists who wish to access locations along West 25th Street south of I-90 – including MetroHealth Medical Center and the Clark-Fulton & Brooklyn Centre Neighborhoods – should use West 44th Street to Clark Avenue. Motorists bound for Scranton Avenue should use the same detour.
Occasional off-peak, daytime lane closures are anticipated as the project moves forward. To learn more about the safety improvement project, please click here.
