REMINDER: Beginning on or around April 7 the current three lanes of I-71 southbound, just south of the #GVVBridge, will be reduced to two lanes through the fall of this year. There is currently one lane northbound and this will remain the same. Traffic will also be shifted throughout the project as crews work on one side and then the other. In order to implement the long-term work zone, the following will take place:
Overnight TONIGHT, Friday, April 3:
· Overnight tonight, Friday, April 3 crews will close I-90 east over the #GVVBridge between I-490 and I-77 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, April 4. Opt for the Alternate! Use I-490 east to I-77 north to access Downtown locations and I-90 east. I-90 west will remain open. In addition, there will be a single lane closure on I-490 west under I-71 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
**Note: The I-490 west ramp to I-71 south and SR 176 (Jennings Freeway) north ramp to I-90 west originally schedule to close tonight will remain open.
During the week of April 6 the following will be in effect:
· On Monday, April 6 the right lane of I-71 south at the I-90 split will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Each night Monday-Thursday, April 6-9, I-90 will close in both directions between I-490 and I-77 (over the #GVVBridge) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Opt for the Alt! Detour via I-490 and I-77. In addition, there will be overnight single lane closures on I-490 west under I-71 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. **Beginning Tuesday morning April 7, when I-90 reopens, traffic heading from the #GVVBridge to I-71 south will be reduced to two lanes. Motorists in both directions should be alert for shifting traffic throughout the week!
I-71 traffic will be maintained using a "crossover" onto the west side of the I-71 bridge. When work on the east side is complete, traffic will moved onto the completed area and work will begin on the west side.
