Hassan Zahran, P.E.
Hassan Zahran has been working for the City of Columbus for 4.5 years. Hassan is the Administrator for the Division of Design and Construction and also serves as the City Engineer. He is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the operations and activities of the Design and Construction Division which includes project management/inspection, and design of capital improvement projects, plan review, utility coordination, right-of- way coordination, surveying material testing, new product review and approval, and private development inspection.
Prior to working for the City of Columbus, Hassan worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for 23 years. During his tenure at ODOT, Hassan served as the Assistant District Construction Engineer (DCE) where he was responsible for the management of the construction office personnel and construction activities in District Six. Prior to becoming the DCE, Hassan served as the District Construction Area Engineer where he was responsible for various construction projects and Project Engineers (some of the noteworthy projects Hassan was responsible for included the major widening projects of Fra/Del I-71 ($60M) and Cla/Mad 70 ($75M)). Hassan also served as the County Manager of Franklin County.
Hassan graduated from Youngstown State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.
