TRAC Releases 2004 Draft Projects List

Columbus   Extending a tradition of funding major new transportation projects based on objective criteria openly discussed, the Transportation Review Advisory Council today released its list of new construction projects for fiscal year 2004: 11 projects worth $89.3 million.

"This is a solid addition to previous financial commitments," said ODOT Director and TRAC Chairman Gordon Proctor. "The TRAC has met its obligation to approve a program that is rational, fair and fiscally sound."

The total program cost for 2004, includes the 11 new construction projects, as well as previous commitments and planning costs totals $313.6 million.

Last year, the nine-member citizen panel in its first year of operation approved a four-year program of 64 projects worth $1.6 billion for the years 2000 through 2003. In general, ODOT works on a four-year construction and planning cycle, adding a year of new projects while the current years is under construction.

A detailed listing of the funded projects can be viewed on ODOTs website at www.dot.state.oh.us/TRAC.

The TRAC held six public hearings around the state this year, listening to project advocates and others.

The draft list will be subject to written public comments from Dec. 15 to April 15, 2000. Write: TRAC Coordinator Michael Cull, c/o ODOT,1980 W.Broad St., Cols., Ohio 43223.
